Yep, it's strange name for non-Russian users and we fill that we owe you some explanations. Soroka-Vorovka is a brand that belongs to our parent company, MNG Consulting Inc, registered in New York, USA. Literally speaking, soroka-vorovka (сорока-воровка) translates from Russian as Thieving-Magpie, but the term is more meaningful than the sum of its translation.
In Russian, it sounds like tongue-twister—very catchy—and the bird itself well-known character. All Russian parents play this game with infants. While telling this story (sounds like a verse), parents bend the little one's fingers: "Thieving-magpie, cooked cereals - feeding her babies (pause), this one is got some (bend one finger), this one is got some (another finger bent), and this one got something... but this got nothing (you catch you baby nose)”
Kids usually laugh loudly at this point. They probably don't really care about the verse—they’re just happy that someone is playing with them.
So, why would our company (with 2 warehouses in USA, headquarters in 5 countries and partners around the world) decide to take such a playful name for our website? We started by buying and shipping goods to Russia and Russian-speaking countries and, as you can see from the example above, this character is very familiar there. We don't want our customers thinking that we believe we are bigger than we are. We want them to judge us by our business, not by our name. For us, its sounds silly when people operating from home (which is how we started back in 2008), name themselves "Super-global-logistics-and-shipping" or "Worldwide delivery and shipping service," when all these companies look and sound the same.
We like to provide our customers with friendly service, so if our name puts a smile on your face, then we’re getting closer to our goal: making our customers happy.
The idea behind our name is obvious: elegant and curious bird putting out her beak, searching for sales and good deals in USA stores (in the States, a good deal is often called "steal")—looking for great quality and cheap prices. Many American sites have special sections entitled "everyday steals," where you can find already low-priced stuff on sale. Most deeply discounted items in online stores in the USA are called the "steal of the day." In the States, if you bought something really cheap, then you may hear the complimentary, “man, you stole it!”

Moreover, in Russian, it's almost impossible to misspell our name. Even if Russian grammar wasn't our best subject in school—it’s still very hard for a Russian-speaking customer to misspell our domain.
